Where It All Began
My career didn’t start in tech, it started in media.
I studied Media Production at college (where I met my wife), before going on to study Film at university in Leeds. I loved storytelling, editing, and the craft of creating something meaningful. But after a year, I realised something important:
I loved film just not as a career.
That's when I decided I needed something different..

Visiting Hotel Chocolat's Rabot Estate in St Lucia in 2014
Figuring it out
I joined Hotel Chocolat as a Customer Experience Representative, speaking to customers all day. It was fast-paced, problem-solving work understanding frustrations and helping people when something wasn’t working or in most instances, when their chocolate had melted.
That experience shaped how I think today. When systems fail, people feel it.
I later moved into the IT team as a Junior IT Engineer. I’ve always had a natural pull toward technology, and this role gave me the foundation understanding how systems are built and supported behind the scenes.
Going All In on Tech
Wanting to deepen that knowledge, I studied Computing at university in Leicester, graduating with a 2:1.
Over three years, I developed a solid foundation in software development, systems architecture and problem-solving. More importantly, I learned how to think structurally breaking down complex problems, understanding constraints, and designing logical solutions.

Love for Sport
Sport has always been a constant in my life. While at university, I spent my summers working on the Information Team at The Tennis Championships, Wimbledon. It combined my love of sport with helping thousands of people enjoy a historic, world-class event.
It reinforced something I still believe:
Great experiences are designed with intent.
Building My Technical Foundation
After University, I joined Fortem on a Graduate IT scheme. Over two years, I rotated across:
App Development
IT Project Management
Application Services (diagnosing and resolving live issues)
Marketing
That variety was invaluable. I saw how software is built, managed, supported, and communicated. I learned how technology decisions affect real people, both internally and externally.
That’s when I discovered UX.

Discovering UX Design
UX felt like everything I’d been circling around for years.
It combined:
Creativity from media
Technical understanding from IT
Empathy from customer service
Structured thinking from project management
I completed the UX Design Institute’s Professional Diploma in UX Design, and it confirmed that this was the work I wanted to do long-term.
Since then, I’ve led and delivered UX and UI projects across internal software platforms, customer portals, and field engineer tools, improving workflows, simplifying complexity, and designing with both users and business outcomes in mind.
Away From the Desk
Most of my downtime revolves around sport; having played both cricket and tennis at county level.
I love getting away when I can especially trips that feel immersive (theme parks are a particular favourite).
And then there’s Ralph, our Romanian rescue dog and constant companion. A lot of life outside work involves him which I wouldn’t change for anything.
